Overview
Located in Zone 1 of Mashhad, Takad occupies a tight 6-meter frontage with a compact footprint of just 60 square meters per floor. Originally conceived as a residential building, the project underwent a strategic pivot midway through the design process to adapt to an office program — a shift that demanded rethinking privacy, natural light, and layout without discarding the spatial logic already in place.
Design Approach
Rather than disguise its narrow plot, Takad leans into it. A continuous brick element runs the full height of the building, wrapping the glazed facade in a single unbroken gesture. This structure does more than define the elevation — it visually widens the building's presence on the street, softening the tightness of the lot and giving the facade a sense of generosity and proportion.
Adapting to a New Use
The transition from residential to office required more than a change in floor plans. Glazing, floor heights, and interior zoning were reconsidered to support open workspaces while retaining the warmth and proportion of the original residential intent — resulting in a building that feels more inhabited and vibrant than institutional.
